Finding Aids and Inventories

From its beginning in 1886, the Enoch Pratt Free Library has developed historical research collections that are rarely found in public libraries. These materials are located in the individual departments of the State Library Resource Center but are not all represented in the public catalog. Fortunately, finding aids and inventories have been made for many of these collections and are available online on Many of the collections not available online have in-house databases for research.

The finding aids give detailed descriptions of the materials in Special Collections. They are used for archival collections of visual art and photography, personal and institutional papers, as well as other historical materials. Some examples:
