African American Funeral Programs - Maryland State Library Resource Center

African American Funeral Programs

This collection contains more than 2000 funeral programs that date back to the 1960s.  This is a valuable aid to researchers searching for genealogical information about their relatives. These programs usually give a listing of names and their relationship to the deceased. Often, Orders of Service are included with participants and Eulogists, and obituaries with surviving members of the family recognized. Some programs include photographs of the deceased, and family and friends. These funeral programs come from churches across Baltimore. This collection is accessible through the African American Department.
